ABOUT POCHABHAI FOUNDATION
The POCHABHAI FOUNDATION is a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to empower the future of children through education. We are committed to give every child from our 20 rural villages in Gujarat, India the tools and opportunities to have access to a higher education, which will open doors to a brighter future. Through our programs, we aim to provide educational resources, support, and mentorship to underprivileged children, helping them break the cycle of poverty and reach their full potential.
OUR MISSION & HISTORY

Pochabhai Chauhan
Pochabhai Chauhan was a Dalit Leader and Community Activist.
Born in village Golana he worked on land rights, housing rights and the dignity of members of his community. He along with Gandabhai and other youth mobilized others for the socio-economic development and rights guaranteed by the constitution of India. He was killed in 1986 in an attack by land lords. Today a new Foundation has emerged in his memory. Inspired by his life and encouraged by Daniben his wife and our mother.
Our mission is to tackle the educational challenges faced by children in impoverished rural areas. These areas have no schools. We want to make an impact through education. Our journey began with a vision to transform lives and build a better tomorrow for the children of Gujarat. We continuously strive to expand our reach and make quality education accessible to those who need it the most. Through our effort, we have been able to make a significant difference in the lives of countless children.
In the foot steps of our father.
MAKING A CHANGE
Father Jose Maria Heredero, a spanish jesuit is the great promoter of this project and the one who encouraged us and gave us the guidelines to start. Small changes from an early age, change comes with education, developing into a big change for the community. Father Heredero came to India when he was only 20 years old under the company of the jesuits. In a foreign country with a different culture and knowing no english or gujurati he adapted quickly to his new home. He has been the sponsor of many great cooperative projects and has been especially involved in education with and extensive academic preparation both in India and USA, has taught for many years in the University at Ahmedabad. He lived in India until he was 93 years old, and now back in
Spain continues to collaborate and advise us.
